Master Password for Magento enables you to login to customer accounts with a global "master password" or through the Magento administrative area via a "Login As" button on the customer information page. This makes responding to certain customer support requests easier and allows you to make changes to customer accounts on behalf of customers even if such functionality is not available in the administrative area. Master Password was written with ease of use and security in mind.

Password security is very important. If your database was ever stolen, your master password could be brute-forced unless it is stored properly. We use a one-way hash (sha1) is salted and iterated to prevent brute force attempts and make rainbow tables useless.
- The "Login As" link uses a time-based unique hash for authentication
The "Login As" button in the backend uses a time-based hash that is only valid for 10 seconds. This ensures that it is completely secure from someone logging in as another user.
- Logins using the master password can be limited to only specific IP addresses
Selectively disable the master password based on flexible IP rules.
- Separate different IP addresses with a comma
- Support a range of IP addresses such as 8.8.8.1-20
- Support wildcards such as 167.8.55.*
- Separate settings for each store
Each store can have its own master password. This enables you to only allow certain employees access to specific stores.
